Automated Highway Driving Systems And ADAS
Podium Automotive has developed a suite of sensors that are complimentary to Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS). Every year the automotive industry adds more autonomous features in vehicles. For example, Automated Highway Driving systems are one component of a full ADAS, and several players in the industry are developing the technology.
An Automated Highway Driving system can assist the driver in a variety of ways, including in traffic jams, highway piloting, and automated emergency braking. These features can even help the driver of the vehicle evaluate and drive in high speed scenarios with improved safety. Such a system can determine path planning as well as navigate the vehicle from one stretch of roadway to another.
These technologies came to the front of mind as on February 2nd, 2022, the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s subcommittee held a hearing titled “The Road Ahead for Automated Vehicles” that will included labor leaders, industry representatives and experts in the field.
Sensors, cameras, Lidar and radars are key to providing spatial awareness to any ADAS, though they can be hampered with by dirt, dust, winter precipitation and other impediments. This compromises safety and a solution is needed. Podium’s technologies facilitate the existing ADAS technologies by detecting obstructions and impediments to the sensor suite allowing the ADAS technology to work at full efficiency, making driving safer for everyone.
